hiny Pokemon are not easy to find in any of the Pokemon games and the same goes for Scarlet and Purple. There are a couple of ways you can increase your chances of finding them. In this Pokemon Scarlet and Purple guide, we go over how you can catch shiny Pokemon and how you can increase your chances of finding them.

Finding shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Shiny Pokémon can be found in the wild, and you can tell that they are shiny just by looking at them before you even go into battle. Unlike in Pokemon Legends Arceus, there are no audio or visual cues, so you’ll really need to pay attention. When you find one, we recommend turning off autosave and saving manually before heading into battle so you can reload if things don’t go as planned.

Hatching is another source of finding shiny Pokemon, as they can hatch from eggs. You have a 1 in 4096 chance of getting a shiny Pokemon by default, but there are ways to increase your chances. The following are the different methods you can use to increase the chances of finding a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:

• agricultural shoots
• masuda method
• Sparkling Energy Sandwiches

shiny charm

The Shiny Charm is an item that you can use to increase your chances of getting a shiny Pokemon in the wild and through breeding. You can get the Shiny Charm by completing the Pokedex. That’s no small achievement on its own. Once you’ve done that, you can talk to Mr. Jacq at the academy to get the amulet.

agricultural shoots

You will find sprouts in the open world as you explore it. Head over to them and take out as many Pokemon as you can. While the basic odds of finding a shiny Pokemon are 1 in 4096, if you clear 30 Pokemon your odds will increase to 1 in 2048. If you manage to clear 60 your odds will increase to 1 in 1,365.

masuda method

The Masuda Method only applies to breeding in this game. Basically, you will have a better chance of getting a shiny Pokemon if you breed two Pokemon from different language versions of the game.

Sparkling Energy Sandwiches

Lastly, you can increase the chances of finding a shiny Pokémon by eating sandwiches with the Sparkling Power effect. You can get the Sparkling Power effect by using Herba Mystica with other ingredients. This is pretty hard to find and is dropped from high level raids. There is no guaranteed drop, so the methods mentioned above might work better for you.
